In the US money is used to help ease the financial burden placed on pregnant women throughout their pregancy and after by providing them with gift certificates toward food, clothing, rent and furniture. In addition, gift certificates are handed out during the holiday season to help with gifts for birth parents and pregnant women with additional children. We also collect donations to help families who have adopted through AFTH with critically ill children.

US DONATIONS

AFTH donated over $14,400 to over 42 birthparents during the 2008 holiday season. Each year AFTH gives donations of gift certificates and giftcards to birth parents with children in the home to help ease the financial strain they face during the holiday season.

TORI

AFTH has been collecting money to help aid a very special little girl, Tori. At only 9 months, when most babies are beginning to crawl, Tori began fighting for her life after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor.

07/09 Update: Tori is one year post stem cell transplant. Tori is officially off all restrictions except being around people who are obviously sick and not drinking the tap water from her home since it is well water and carries more bacteria. She has had 2 stable MRIs since radiation, her blood work is great and all of her one year post transplant tests have come back normal. Her kidney and liver functions are normal, her heart is in great shape, her weight and height are great, she is making progress with her O/T and P/T and they just had her vision test on Mon. and it was excellent. Tori does have some hearing loss from the chemo. However, they do not know how much and do not have ear specific info. at this time.

As you can imagine this has been very hard on Tori's family. Donations to help this family with tremendous medical expenses that are not covered by insurance are still being accepted .
