Russia Adoption

Program Guidelines

Eligibility

• Married couples and single women 25 and older are eligible.
• Persons 43 and older should be open to adoption of an older child or a child with special needs.
• For couples the age of the adoptive mother primarily determines eligibility.
• At least one member of a couple must be a U.S. citizen.

Available Children

• Boys and girls 12 months to 5 years are available for adoption.
• Families may adopt more than one child only in the case of biologically related siblings.
• Families may choose gender

Adoption Process

• AFTH partners with a Russia Accredited agency to assist families wishing to adopt from Russia
• AFTH's Partnering agency is registered with Russia as a non-governmental organization (NGO)

Travel Requirements

• In most cases three trips are required, each lasting approximately 4-7 days.
