People/Ethnicity
Vietnam has one of the most complex ethnolinguistic patterns in Asia. Many groupssuch as the Rade (Rhade), Jarai, Chru, and Roglaispeak Austronesian languages, linking them to the Cham, Malay, and Indonesian peoples; othersincluding the Bru, Pacoh, Katu, Cua, Hre, Rengao, Sedang, Bahnar, Mnong, Mang (Maa), and Stiengspeak Mon-Khmer languages, affiliating them with the Khmer.
Geography
From north to south Vietnam extends about 1,025 miles (1,650 kilometres) and at its narrowest part is about 30 miles wide. Vietnam is bordered by China to the north, the South China Sea to the east and south, the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest, and Cambodia and Laos to the west.
Government
Vietnam is a socialist republic with one legislative house (National Assembly). Head of state is the Prime Minister.
