Vietnam Adoption

Program Guidelines

Eligibility

• Married couples, single male and female applicants are eligible.
• Age requirements are flexible.
• Families must be open to a child of either gender or boys
• At least one member of a couple or a single applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

Available Children

• Boys and girls 6 months and up are available, some toddlers, twins may be available but are rare.
• Children are in orphanages.

Adoption Process

• Time from paperwork completion until travel is approximately 9-18 months.
• Adoptive families are escorted through the entire process and have daily access to in-country team.
• Adoption is finalized overseas.
• Families are required to submit post-placement reports on their child every 6 months for the first 3 years and then yearly until the child is 18 years old. 
• AFTH is licensed to work in Ho Chi Minh City & Binh Duong Provinces.

Travel Requirements

• Both parents are required to travel* – single parents are required to have someone accompany them.
• Travel is one trip for approximately 2-3weeks – in-country travel to Hanoi is required time in Hanoi is approximately two days.
• Families may bring their children when they travel.
• Families travel in groups.
• Travel arrangements are made by AFTH – families stay in two or three bedroom apartments.
