Hello,

We want to say a huge “thank you” for taking the time to read our profile. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share about our family.

Carol and I have been together 4 years, but have known each other over 15 years. Soon after Laney was born, we started thinking about having a second child. We chose adoption because it is the best way for our family to grow.  We could not imagine Laney being an only child. 

We always knew that if we adopted we would adopt bi-racially. Along with our daughter Laney, Carol has a 10 year old stepson from a previous relationship. He was also adopted and very much a part of Carol’s life since he was a toddler. Because of Carol’s stepson, we realize the importance of a child knowing about his/her race and ethnicity. We will do our best to make sure your child grows up being educated, age appropriately, about his/her culture.

We knew having a child would change our lives forever, but never could have imagined how truly wonderful life really is as a family.  We like to think of ourselves as big kids.  We are a very active and on the go family. We enjoy being outdoors. Along with all our fun filled adventures, we enjoy reading together.   

Heather has been a teacher for 16 years. She is off for all the major holidays and summer. During this time, plans are made with and for the kids.  When she is off from school, the kids get to stay home with her too.  Days off are meant for the whole family!

 We are very fortunate that our parents live in the area. Both our families come together and celebrate Thanksgiving at our house. At Christmas, we work it out so we spend time with both sets of grandparents. We want to be with our families as much as possible. We are a family that will be supportive and encourages succeeding as a child, in college and in life.

In closing, we cannot possibly know the emotions you are going through trying to make your birth plan. No matter what family you choose, we appreciate the fact that you are making a birth plan. It shows how much you care and love your baby. Adoption is a lifelong connection, one that we will cherish with you.
