Families Seeking an African-American ChildTodd - Family #120
My name is Todd and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to bring a child into my home. I myself was adopted at three months old. My birth Mother didn’t feel that she could take care of me, and I am so grateful to her to this day for making the selfless choice to give me the opportunity to grow up in a family that was able to take care of me... and I will always be grateful to her for this. I am a single man with two great dogs and lots of friends and family. I have a Cocker Spaniel who is six named Chase and a yellow lab named Lucas who is two, both are rescues and both are in love with children actually I am not sure who is more excited them or me. I have a great house with a big yard and a pool behind a gate on one side so everyone can more than enjoy plenty of outside play time and good laughs and I have a lot of friends with children. About ten years ago I had a very good friend who was not in a good place and she asked me to take care of her child which I did from the age of six months to three and a half. His name is Israel and I am still a huge part of his life. He is ten now and full of life and love…his mother and father are in a good place now so he lives with them. I have a big extended family as well. I have cousins with kids from the ages of one to seventeen years old, about 12 of them in total. They are all excited for the addition to the family to come, and my mother and father are just beside themselves with excitement. My sister unfortunately died of cancer a few years ago. She was also adopted from a separate family and we were extremely close but I know she is as well excited for me. My neighborhood has quite a few kids, and my house is surrounded by great smelling gardens that seem to just bring a smile to your face just walking up the path. I have wanted to adopt for a long time now but I wanted to wait to see what happened with my sister for I want my children to always have all my focus and love. I needed to go through that period with my sister and send her away with as much love as I could prior to me continuing this process which I did and I am so excited for this I can’t even tell you. I feel that as an adoptee myself, it is very important to give back the gift that I was given. I don’t ever feel resentful or upset with my birth mother, rather I feel love and thankful to her for giving me such a wonderful gift. I have a lot of love and happiness to share with a child and more of an understanding I believe as being an adoptee to all the questions that will one day be asked. I send you lots of love and wish you all the peace I can. Sincerely, Todd
